TLDR
A variety of lithostratigraphic units may be outlined within the pre-Mesozoic crystalline basement of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains of the United States, including a group of metamorphic rocks of variable grade together with deformed and retrogressed granite in southwestern Alabama and southeastern Mississippi as mentioned in this paper.

The lithospheric architecture of Africa: Seismic tomography, mantle petrology, and tectonic evolution

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a new analysis of the lithospheric architecture of Africa, and its evolution from ca. 3.6 Ga to the present, using thermal/compositional modeling and xenolith/xenocryst data from volcanic rocks.

Extending full-plate tectonic models into deep time: Linking the Neoproterozoic and the Phanerozoic

TL;DR: For the first time, a continuous full-plate model spanning 1 Ga to the present day was presented in this paper, which includes a revised and improved model for the Neoproterozoic-Cambrian (1000-520 Ma) that connects with models of the Phanerozoic.

Puncoviscana folded belt in northwestern Argentina: testimony of Late Proterozoic Rodinia fragmentation and pre-Gondwana collisional episodes

TL;DR: The earliest synrift igneous products are represented by ultra-potassic dykes and alkaline lava flows of high LREE/HREE and low Zr/Nb-Y/NB ratios as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A paleogeographical review of the peri- Gondwanan realm of the Appalachian orogen 1

TL;DR: The eastern edge of the Appalachian orogen is composed of a collection of Neoproterozoic-early Paleozoic domains, which are exotic to North America as discussed by the authors.

Thin-skinned tectonics in the crystalline southern Appalachians; COCORP seismic-reflection profiling of the Blue Ridge and Piedmont

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the Brevard fault is the surface expression of an eastward-dipping splay off the main sole thrust, and they show or imply that other major faults of this region have similar origins.
