Journal ArticleDOI

Review of electrochemical oxidation desulfurization for fuels and minerals

TL;DR: In this article, the rate-determine step is considered as the precise contact between reactive oxygen species (ROSs) and sulfur, and the synergy of three transfers and two reactions can be improved by regulating the electrode structure and corresponding external field.
Book ChapterDOI

Electrochemical Technologies for Environmental Remediation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe electrochemical methods for remediation of a variety of dilute pollutants, organic contaminants, organic complexes with metals, and recovery of heavy metals and discuss major bioelectrochemical methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential control of anode/cathode potentials of paired electrolysis for simultaneous removal of chemical oxygen demand and total nitrogen.

TL;DR: The developed paired electrolysis system was validated by treating an actual pharmaceutical wastewater, results showed that a total current efficiency of 84.8% was achieved, which was at least twice as high as that of traditional electrochemical processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar photovoltaic-battery system as a green energy for driven electrochemical wastewater treatment technologies: Application to elimination of Brilliant Blue FCF dye solution

TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of using solar photovoltaic cell (PV) battery system as a renewable energy source for driven electrochemical treatment of acidic solution of food colorant Brilliant Blue FCF (E133) dye using boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode and carbon-felt cathode was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxicity and removal of parabens from water: A critical review.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review on the acute and chronic toxicity of parabens, their estrogenic agonistic and antagonistic activity and also their relationship with antimicrobial resistance.

Electrochemical technologies in wastewater treatment

TL;DR: In this article, the development, design and applications of electrochemical technologies in water and wastewater treatment are reviewed with particular focus on electrodeposition, electrocoagulation, electroflotation (EF), and electrooxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical oxidation of organic pollutants for the wastewater treatment: direct and indirect processes

TL;DR: The present tutorial review summarizes the results of an extensive selection of papers dealing with electrochemical oxidation, which is proposed as an alternative for treating polluted wastes, to discuss the possibility of removing selected contaminants from water using different anodes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrocatalysis in the electrochemical conversion/combustion of organic pollutants for waste water treatment

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified mechanism for the electrochemical oxidation or combustion of organics is presented according to which selective oxidation occurs with oxide anodes (MOx) forming the so-called higher oxide MOx+1 and combustion occurs with electrodes at the surface of which OH radicals are accumulated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrogeneration of Hydroxyl Radicals on Boron-Doped Diamond Electrodes

TL;DR: In this paper, the electrogeneration of hydroxyl radicals was studied at a synthetic B-doped diamond (BDD) thin film electrode, where spin trapping was used for detection of hydoxyl radicals with 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-Noxide and with salicylic acid using ESR and liq. chromatog.
