Application of Carbon Nanotubes Coated Electrodes and Immobilized TiO2 for Dye Degradation in a Continuous Photocatalytic-Electro-Fenton Process
TL;DR: In this paper, the decolorization of acid dyes in binary solutions via a continuous photocatalytic-electro-Fenton (PEF-TiO2) process was studied using a modified graphite electrode with carbon nanotubes and immobilized TiO2 with adequate stabilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced generation of hydroxyl radicals on well-crystallized molybdenum trioxide/nano-graphite anode with sesame cake-like structure for degradation of bio-refractory antibiotic.
Bo Tang,Jiannan Du,Qingmao Feng,Jiaqi Zhang,Dan Wu,Xiankai Jiang,Xiankai Jiang,Ying Dai,Jinlong Zou,Jinlong Zou +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that MoO3/Nano-G electrodes can be considered as the promising catalysts for treating bio-refractory organic wastewater.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insights into electrodegradation mechanism of tebuconazole pesticide on Bi-doped PbO2 electrodes
Francisco de Assis Avelino de Figueredo-Sobrinho,Francisco Willian de Souza Lucas,Taicia Pacheco Fill,Edson Rodrigues-Filho,Lucia H. Mascaro,Paulo N.S. Casciano,Pedro de Lima-Neto,Adriana N. Correia +7 more
TL;DR: The effect of the Bi doping of PbO2 coatings on the electrochemical degradation of the pesticide tebuconazole (TBC) was investigated in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Removal of herbicide 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (DNCB) from aqueous solutions by electrochemical oxidation using boron-doped diamond (BDD) and PbO2 electrodes.
José Eudes L. Santos,Martha A. Gómez,D. Chianca de Moura,Monica Cerro-Lopez,Marco A. Quiroz,Carlos A. Martínez-Huitle +5 more
TL;DR: Results clearly indicated that a 62 % of mineralization was achieved with BDD anode at pH 3, while only a 46 % of electrochemical oxidation (EO) was achieved at PbO2 electrode, and HPLC analyses showed that phenolic intermediates as well as carboxylic acids were formed during the electrolysis process on both electrodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative Analysis of Photocatalytic and Electrochemical Degradation of 4-Ethylphenol in Saline Conditions
Robert Brüninghoff,Alyssa K. van Duijne,Lucas Braakhuis,Pradip Saha,Adriaan W. Jeremiasse,Bastian Mei,Guido Mul +6 more
TL;DR: The origin of the minimal formation of free chlorine and chlorinated compounds in photocatalytic degradation is discussed based on photoelectrochemical results and existing literature, and explained by a chloride-mediated surface-charge recombination mechanism.

Electrochemical technologies in wastewater treatment
TL;DR: In this article, the development, design and applications of electrochemical technologies in water and wastewater treatment are reviewed with particular focus on electrodeposition, electrocoagulation, electroflotation (EF), and electrooxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrochemical oxidation of organic pollutants for the wastewater treatment: direct and indirect processes
TL;DR: The present tutorial review summarizes the results of an extensive selection of papers dealing with electrochemical oxidation, which is proposed as an alternative for treating polluted wastes, to discuss the possibility of removing selected contaminants from water using different anodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrocatalysis in the electrochemical conversion/combustion of organic pollutants for waste water treatment
TL;DR: In this article, a simplified mechanism for the electrochemical oxidation or combustion of organics is presented according to which selective oxidation occurs with oxide anodes (MOx) forming the so-called higher oxide MOx+1 and combustion occurs with electrodes at the surface of which OH radicals are accumulated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrogeneration of Hydroxyl Radicals on Boron-Doped Diamond Electrodes
TL;DR: In this paper, the electrogeneration of hydroxyl radicals was studied at a synthetic B-doped diamond (BDD) thin film electrode, where spin trapping was used for detection of hydoxyl radicals with 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-Noxide and with salicylic acid using ESR and liq. chromatog.
