Robust multiresolution estimation of parametric motion models
TL;DR: Numerical results support this approach, as validated by the use of these algorithms on complex sequences, and two robust estimators in a multi-resolution framework are developed.

Registration and three-dimensional reconstruction of autoradiographic images by the disparity analysis method
TL;DR: A new alignment method based on disparity analysis is presented, which can overcome many of the difficulties encountered by previous methods in 3D reconstruction of coronal sections.

Three-dimensional quantitative autoradiography by disparity analysis: theory and application to image averaging of local cerebral glucose utilization.
TL;DR: 3D reconstruction of averaged autoradiographic image data by disparity analysis is a feasible approach, which vastly simplifies ROI analysis, facilitates the assessment of hemodynamic or metabolic patterns in three dimensions, permits the computation of threshold-defined volumes of interest on averaged 3D data sets, makes possible atlas-based ROI strategies, and importantly provides the capability of generating 3D image data sets derived from arithmetic manipulations on two or more primary data sets.

Determining optical flow
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for finding the optical flow pattern is presented which assumes that the apparent velocity of the brightness pattern varies smoothly almost everywhere in the image, and an iterative implementation is shown which successfully computes the Optical Flow for a number of synthetic image sequences.

The interpretation of a moving retinal image
TL;DR: It is shown that from a monocular view of a rigid, textured, curved surface it is possible, in principle, to determine the gradient of the surface at any point, and the motion of the eye relative to it, from the velocity field of the changing retinal image, and its first and second spatial derivatives.

Constraints for the estimation of displacement vector fields from image sequences
TL;DR: Results are reported of an investigation about how an ``oriented smoothness'' constraint may be formulated and evaluated about how variations of the displacement vector field only in directions with small or no variation of gray values are restricted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determining Three-Dimensional Motion and Structure from Optical Flow Generated by Several Moving Objects
TL;DR: A new approach for the interpretation of optical flow fields is presented, where the flow field is partitioned into connected segments of flow vectors, where each segment is consistent with a rigid motion of a roughly planar surface.
