Abstract
The authors describe an emerging paradigm of educational research that pairs theories of embodied learning with a class of immersive technologies referred to as mixed reality (MR). MR environments merge the digital with the physical, where, for example, students can use their bodies to simulate an orbit around a virtual planet. Recent research supports the idea that body activity can be an important catalyst for generating learning, and new technologies are being developed that use natural human physicality and gesture as input. However, existing research on embodied learning technologies has been disparate, driven largely by specific technical innovations and constraints, and often lacking a clear focus on establishing their efficacy in educational contexts. On the basis of the unique characteristics of these technologies and on their own experiences conducting research in this area, the authors put forth six precepts for embodied learning technology researchers that pertain to the rationale, design, and...

Augmented and virtual reality in the language classroom: practical ideas

TL;DR: In this article, a practical introduction to the capabilities of augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) in foreign language education is provided, along with a number of activities that teachers can use in any ESL classroom with access to smartphones or AR/VR capable devices.

Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Realities in Education

Liu
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method for obtaining the soft documents of this virtual augmented and mixed reality in education by online, and they also showed that it will unconditionally squander the time.

Effects of Embodied Learning and Digital Platform on the Retention of Physics Content: Centripetal Force.

TL;DR: It is proposed that better retention of certain types of knowledge can be seen over time when more embodiment is present during the encoding phase, and this sort of retention may not appear on more traditional factual/declarative tests.

Big Data Comes to School: Implications for Learning, Assessment, and Research

TL;DR: The implications of big data in education are explored by way of example on data generated by student writing, highlighting the range of processes for collecting and interpreting evidence of learning in the era of computer-mediated instruction and assessment as well as the challenges.

Developing reflective trainee teacher practice with 360-degree video

TL;DR: The authors explored how 360-degree video can support student teacher reflection and found that the immersive, embodied experience of reflecting using 360degree video develops a more nuanced understanding of microteaching practice, as well as supporting student teachers' selfefficacy towards teaching.

Metaphors We Live by

TL;DR: Lakoff and Johnson as discussed by the authors present a very attractive book for linguists to read, which is written in a direct and accessible style; while it introduces and uses a number of new terms, for the most part it is free of jargon.
