Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation between end-tidal carbon dioxide and the degree of compression of heart cavities measured by transthoracic echocardiography during cardiopulmonary resuscitation for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
TL;DR: CImax is a candidate parameter for the guidance of hemodynamic-directed CPR and positively correlated with all parameters under consideration, while the strongest correlation was found between CImax and EtCO2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Outcome of patients treated with extracorporeal life support in cardiogenic shock complicating acute myocardial infarction: 1-year result from the ECLS-Shock study.
Korbinian Lackermair,Stefan Brunner,Mathias Orban,Sven Peterss,Martin Orban,Hans D. Theiss,Bruno C. Huber,Gerd Juchem,Frank Born,Anne-Laure Boulesteix,Axel Bauer,Maximilian Pichlmaier,Jörg Hausleiter,Steffen Massberg,Christian Hagl,S. Guenther +15 more
TL;DR: This pilot study showed that randomized studies with ECLS in CS patients are feasible and safe and there is an urgent call for larger multi-centric randomized trials assessing the endpoint of all-cause mortality but also considering the effects on neurological outcome measures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of external cooling failure after cardiac arrest
Sylvie Ricome,Florence Dumas,Nicolas Mongardon,Olivier Varenne,Jérôme Fichet,Frédéric Pène,Benjamin Zuber,Benoît Vivien,Julien Charpentier,Jean-Daniel Chiche,Jean-Paul Mira,Alain Cariou +11 more
TL;DR: External cooling failure occurred in nearly one-third of patients with CA and was associated with easily identified risk factors, which emphasizes the interest in early cooling and alternative techniques in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neopuff T‐piece mask resuscitator: is mask leak related to watching the pressure dial?
Mark Tracy,J Klimek,J Klimek,V. Shingde,V. Shingde,Murray Hinder,Rajesh Maheshwari,Sally Tracy,Sally Tracy +8 more
TL;DR: The aim of the study is to compare mask leak and delivered ventilation during Neopuff mask ventilation in two modes: (i) with NP pressure dial hidden and resuscitator watching chest wall (CW) rise with, and (ii) with CW movement hidden and NP pressuredial hidden.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biphasic Anaphylaxis: A Review of the Incidence, Characteristics and Predictors
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the available literature on the topic of biphasic anaphylaxis is presented, showing that patients with an initial presentation requiring more than one dose of epinephrine, those who have life-threatening initial presenting features, and those who otherwise take longer to stabilize, are in this higher risk group, and would be more likely to benefit from prolonged in hospital observa- tion.

Difficult Airway Society guidelines for management of the unanticipated difficult intubation
TL;DR: The Difficult Airway Society (DAS) developed guidelines for management of the unanticipated difficult tracheal intubation in the non-obstetric adult patient without upper airway obstruction as discussed by the authors.
