ESC Guidelines for the Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction in Patients Presenting With ST-Segment Elevation

TL;DR: The once-in-a-lifetime treatment with Abciximab Intracoronary for acute coronary syndrome and a second dose intravenously for atrial fibrillation is recommended for adults with high blood pressure.

A survey of labour ward clinicians' knowledge of maternal cardiac arrest and resuscitation.

TL;DR: In this article, an anonymous structured scenario questionnaire survey was conducted among relevant hospital clinicians to examine knowledge of existing recommendations for maternal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and participants were divided in their opinions regarding every choice of action: positioning, need to administer cricoid pressure during mask ventilation, timing of intubation, location of external chest compression, position of paddle placement, the timing of defibrillation versus fetal delivery, medication doses and the need to rupture the membranes at an early phase of the resuscitation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical pilot study of different hand positions during manual chest compressions monitored with capnography

TL;DR: Monitoring and optimizing chest compressions using capnography was feasible and could not demonstrate one superior hand position, but inter-individual differences suggest optimal hand position might vary significantly among patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

The small chill: mild hypothermia for cardioprotection?

TL;DR: Several strategies have been proposed for ultra-fast cooling, but most like liquid ventilation and pericardial perfusion are too invasive, and more feasible strategies might include cutaneous cooling, peritoneal lavage with cold solutions, and endovascular cooling with intravenous thermodes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of CRM team leader training on team performance and leadership behavior in simulated cardiac arrest scenarios: a prospective, randomized, controlled study.

TL;DR: Training only the designated team leaders in CRM improves performance of the entire team, in particular guideline adherence and team leader behavior.

The pre-hospital management of acute heart attacks: recommendations of a task force of the European Society of Cardiology and the European Resuscitation Council

D. Chamberlain, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1998 -
TL;DR: The European Society of Cardiology and the European Resuscitation Council as discussed by the authors published guidelines on the pre-hospital and in-hospital management of myocardial infarction, which relate primarily to clinical management specifically of this one condition from the onset of symptoms to the phase of secondary prevention and rehabilitation.
