Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing compression depth during manikin CPR using a simple backboard.
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to compare chest compression depth with and without a rigid backboard and hypothesized that the presence of a backboard would result in an increased depth of chest compressions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Utility of pre-cordial thump for treatment of out of hospital cardiac arrest: a prospective study.
Tommaso Pellis,Fulvio Kette,Daniela Lovisa,E. Franceschino,Laura Magagnin,Willy Pierre Mercante,Peter Kohl +6 more
TL;DR: PT can be combined with standard resuscitatory interventions without significant time-delay or apparent side effects, and may offer potential for the increasing proportion of asystolic OOH-CA, in particular when witnessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest: implementation and outcome in Finnish intensive care units
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to find out nationwide implementation and the actual utilization of TH after cardiac arrest in Finnish intensive care units (ICUs) and to describe demographic variables of the patients treated with TH.
Journal ArticleDOI
Postresuscitation treatment with argon improves early neurological recovery in a porcine model of cardiac arrest.
Giuseppe Ristagno,Francesca Fumagalli,Ilaria Russo,Simona Tantillo,D. De Zani,V. Locatelli,Marcella De Maglie,Deborah Novelli,Lidia Staszewsky,Tarcisio Vago,Angelo Belloli,Mauro Di Giancamillo,Michael Fries,Serge Masson,Eugenio Scanziani,Roberto Latini +15 more
TL;DR: In this model of cardiac arrest with an underlying acute myocardial infarction, postresuscitation treatment with argon allowed for a faster and complete neurologic recovery, without detrimental effects on hemodynamics and respiratory gas exchanges.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurologic long term outcome after drowning in children.
TL;DR: There is evidence that gross neurological examination at the time of discharge from the hospital in young children does not reveal all the possible sequelae related to hypoxic brain injury and thus long-term follow-up of drowned resuscitated children is strongly recommended.
