Comparison of the Fluid Resuscitation Rate with and without External Pressure Using Two Intraosseous Infusion Systems for Adult Emergencies, the CITRIN (Comparison of InTRaosseous infusion systems in emergency medicINe)-Study
Niels Hammer,Niels Hammer,Robert Möbius,André Gries,Björn Hossfeld,Ingo Bechmann,Michael Bernhard +6 more
TL;DR: The experiments with first-time users applying EZ-IO and FASTR in body donors indicate that both devices may be effective intraosseous infusion devices, likely suitable for fluid resuscitation using a pressure bag.
Journal ArticleDOI
IV access in bleeding trauma patients: a performance review.
TL;DR: It was found that most bleeding patients received a prehospital IV; however, it was also found that obtaining pre Hospital IVs was associated with longer EMS on-scene times and longer prehospital times, and Interestingly, obtaining a pre hospital IV was not associated with more rapid initiation of blood product transfusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical biomarkers in brain injury: a lesson from cardiac arrest.
Filippo Sanfilippo,Giovanni Li Volti,Giuseppe Ristagno,Paolo Murabito,Tommaso Pellis,Marinella Astuto,Antonino Gullo +6 more
TL;DR: This work reviews the information available on biochemical markers of brain damage for neurological prognostication after CA and suggests that neuron specific enolase and S-100b may contribute to predict prognosis after CA.
Accidentes en la infancia: una problemática actual en pediatría
Migdalia Torres Márquez,Carmen Lucrecia Fonseca Pelegrín,María Dolores Díaz Martínez,Orlando Ariel del Campo Mulet,Ricardo Roché Hernández +4 more
TL;DR: One of the main life-threatening causes in children population, therefore the prevention of accidents can be considered a sociosexual cause and the need for awareness and education about it is important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cut-off values of serum potassium and core temperature at hospital admission for extracorporeal rewarming of avalanche victims in cardiac arrest: A retrospective multi-centre study.
Hermann Brugger,Pierre Bouzat,Mathieu Pasquier,Mathieu Pasquier,Peter Mair,Julia Fieler,Julia Fieler,Tomasz Darocha,Marc Blancher,Matthieu de Riedmatten,Markus Falk,Peter Paal,Peter Paal,Giacomo Strapazzon,Ken Zafren,Ken Zafren,Monika Brodmann Maeder +16 more
TL;DR: For in-hospital triage of avalanche victims admitted with OHCA, serum potassium accurately predicts survival, and the combination of the cut-offs 7 mmol/L for serum potassium and 30 °C for core temperature achieved the lowest overtriage rate and highest positive predictive value, with a sensitivity of 100% for survivors.
