ESC Guidelines for the Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction in Patients Presenting With ST-Segment Elevation

TL;DR: The once-in-a-lifetime treatment with Abciximab Intracoronary for acute coronary syndrome and a second dose intravenously for atrial fibrillation is recommended for adults with high blood pressure.

Cognitive Aids in Acute Care: Investigating How Cognitive Aids Affect and Support In-hospital Emergency Teams

TL;DR: The iterative development of a tablet-based cognitive aid application to support in-hospital resuscitation team leaders and how cognitive aids alter the task of the team leader, the importance of the present team situation, and the result of the interaction between mind and environment are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of the Fluid Resuscitation Rate with and without External Pressure Using Two Intraosseous Infusion Systems for Adult Emergencies, the CITRIN (Comparison of InTRaosseous infusion systems in emergency medicINe)-Study

TL;DR: The experiments with first-time users applying EZ-IO and FASTR in body donors indicate that both devices may be effective intraosseous infusion devices, likely suitable for fluid resuscitation using a pressure bag.
Journal ArticleDOI

IV access in bleeding trauma patients: a performance review.

TL;DR: It was found that most bleeding patients received a prehospital IV; however, it was also found that obtaining pre Hospital IVs was associated with longer EMS on-scene times and longer prehospital times, and Interestingly, obtaining a pre hospital IV was not associated with more rapid initiation of blood product transfusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prognosis for children in cardiac arrest shortly after blunt cranial trauma.

TL;DR: Survival in 40 consecutive children with documented cardiac arrest caused by blunt cranial trauma was 2.5%, supportive of the position that aggressive resuscitation is rarely successful after 10 minutes and futile after 20 minutes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical biomarkers in brain injury: a lesson from cardiac arrest.

TL;DR: This work reviews the information available on biochemical markers of brain damage for neurological prognostication after CA and suggests that neuron specific enolase and S-100b may contribute to predict prognosis after CA.
