TLDR
In this paper, the authors considered a Brownian particle in a periodic potential under heavy damping and showed that if the particle is subject to an external force having time correlations, detailed balance is lost and the particle can exhibit a nonzero net drift speed.
Abstract
We consider a Brownian particle in a periodic potential under heavy damping. The second law forbids it from displaying any net drift speed, even if the symmetry of the potential is broken. But if the particle is subject to an external force having time correlations, detailed balance is lost and the particle can exhibit a nonzero net drift speed. Thus, broken symmetry and time correlations are sufficient ingredients for transport.

Nanoparticle-induced rectification in a single cylindrical nanopore: Net currents from zero time-average potentials

TL;DR: In this article, the steady-state current-voltage curves of a single nanopore are obtained for different charge states and relative sizes of the pore and the charged nanoparticles, which are present only on one side.

Large fluctuations in multi-attractor systems and the generalized Kramers problem

TL;DR: In this paper, an escape from a multi-well metastable potential on a time-scale of a formation of the quasi-equilibrium between the wells is studied, and a complete rigorous analysis of the most probable escape path is presented and a corresponding escape rate is calculated with a logarithmic accuracy.

Stochastic energetics of quantum transport.

TL;DR: It has been shown that the quantum current as well as efficiency in absence of load (Stokes efficiency) is higher as compared to classical current and efficiency, respectively, at low temperature.

Experimental realization of Feynman’s ratchet

TL;DR: In this article, the authors realized Feynman's ratchet with a colloidal particle in a one-dimensional optical trap in contact with two heat reservoirs: one is the surrounding water, while the effect of the other reservoir is generated by a novel feedback mechanism.
