Journal ArticleDOI

Competitive adsorption of thiolated poly(ethylene glycol) and alkane-thiols on gold nanoparticles and its effect on cluster formation.

TL;DR: Thermogravimetric analysis and small angle X-ray scattering shows that the largest clusters are formed when particles have a low PEG-thiol surface concentration and an extended PEG conformation, which greatly impact the formation of clusters by nanoparticle surfactants.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Sensitivity improvement of the surface plasmon resonance optical sensor by using a gold-silver transducing layer

TL;DR: In this article, the spectral characteristics of spectral surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors that use composite silver/gold films for the transducing layer have been studied by using Fresnel formulas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanostructured transducer surfaces for electrochemical biosensor construction—Interfacing the sensing component with the electrode

TL;DR: For fabrication of effective electrochemical biosensors, interfacing the biomolecular receptor with the underlying transducer represents a critical step, with multipoint electrostatic attachment of the sensing biomolecule to either a polyanionic or polycationic layer representing the most common approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-assembled monolayer films derived from tridentate cyclohexyl adsorbates with alkyl tailgroups of increasing chain length.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the stability of the SAMs are influenced by both the length of the alkyl chains and the chelate effect associated with the tridentate adsorbates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Controlling the Properties of n-Alkanethiolate Self-Assembled Monolayers on Gold by Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide−Ethanol Mixtures as Solvents

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used ethanol−supercritical carbon dioxide mixtures as solvents in the formation of n-alkanethiolate self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold.

Formation of monolayer films by the spontaneous assembly of organic thiols from solution onto gold

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used contact angles and optical ellipsometry to study the kinetics of adsorption of monolayer films and to examine the experimental conditions necessary for the formation of high-quality films.
