This correspondence introduces a new class of infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filters that unifies the classical digital Butterworth filter and the well-known maximally flat FIR filter.Abstract:
This correspondence introduces a new class of infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filters that unifies the classical digital Butterworth filter and the well-known maximally flat FIR filter. New closed-form expressions are provided, and a straightforward design technique is described. The new IIR digital filters have more zeros than poles (away from the origin), and their (monotonic) square magnitude frequency responses are maximally flat at /spl omega/=0 and at /spl omega/=/spl pi/. Another result of the correspondence is that for a specified cutoff frequency and a specified number of zeros, there is only one valid way in which to split the zeros between z=-1 and the passband. This technique also permits continuous variation of the cutoff frequency. IIR filters having more zeros than poles are of interest because often, to obtain a good tradeoff between performance and implementation complexity, just a few poles are best.read more

TL;DR: Cervical tissue Raman spectra contain peaks in the vicinity of 1070, 1180, 1195, 1210, 1245, 1330, 1400, 1454, 1505, 1555, 1656, and 1760 cm−1, which means that the ratio of intensities at 1454 to 1656cm−1 is greater for squamous dysplasia than all other tissue types, while the ratio at 1330 to 1454 cm− 1 is lower for samples

Time-Domain Fault-Location Method on HVDC Transmission Lines Under Unsynchronized Two-End Measurement and Uncertain Line Parameters
TL;DR: In this paper, the Bergeron line model is adopted to construct a time-domain fault location equation, considering unsynchronized two-end measurement and uncertain line parameters, and the ratio coefficient of wave velocities between different frequencies and digital band-pass filter are presented for better performance of the proposed method.

On the approximation problem in nonrecursive digital filter design
TL;DR: In this paper, a new class of selective non-recursive digital filters with a maximally flat frequency response in the passband and stopband is introduced, based on a special solution of the general Hermite polynomial interpolation and allows computation of the parameters of these filters in closed form.
