Health-related quality of life in narcolepsy.

TLDR

The Mesolimbic Dopamine Reward Circuit in Depression

TL;DR: It is proposed that the NAc and VTA contribute importantly to the pathophysiology and symptomatology of depression and may even be involved in its etiology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Narcolepsy with cataplexy

TL;DR: Because narcolepsy is an under-recognised disease, it is important that general practitioners and other primary health-care workers identify abnormal daytime sleepiness early.

Sleep disturbances and depression: risk relationships for subsequent depression and therapeutic implications.

TL;DR: These findings suggest that sleep-related symptoms that are present before, during, and after a depressive episode are potentially modifiable factors that may play an important role in achieving and maintaining depression remission.

Diurnal variation of cerebrospinal fluid hypocretin-1 (Orexin-A) levels in control and depressed subjects

TL;DR: The finding that sertraline but not bupropion slightly decreased cerebrospinal fluid hypocretin-1 indicates a serotoninergic influence on hypocretsin tone, consistent with previous physiologic findings in depression indicating dampened diurnal variations in hypocretIn-1.

An inventory for measuring depression

TL;DR: The difficulties inherent in obtaining consistent and adequate diagnoses for the purposes of research and therapy have been pointed out and a wide variety of psychiatric rating scales have been developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new method for measuring daytime sleepiness: the Epworth sleepiness scale.

TL;DR: The development and use of a new scale, the Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), is described, which is a simple, self-administered questionnaire which is shown to provide a measurement of the subject's general level of daytime sleepiness.

Validating the SF-36 health survey questionnaire: new outcome measure for primary care.

TL;DR: The SF-36 was able to detect low levels of ill health in patients who had scored 0 (good health) on the Nottingham health profile and is a promising new instrument for measuring health perception in a general population.
Journal ArticleDOI

Short form 36 (SF36) health survey questionnaire: normative data for adults of working age.

TL;DR: The SF36 is a potentially valuable tool in medical research and the normative data provided here may further facilitate its validation and use.

The SF36 health survey questionnaire: an outcome measure suitable for routine use within the NHS?

TL;DR: The SF36 seems acceptable to patients, internally consistent, and a valid measure of the health status of a wide range of patients, and its sensitivity to changes in health status over time must also be tested.
