High resolution whole brain imaging of anatomical variation in XO, XX, and XY mice.

TLDR
It is demonstrated that murine X-monosomy (XO) causes accentuation of XX vs XY differences in a set of sexually dimorphic structures including classical foci of sex-hormone action, and an evolutionarily conserved influence of X-linked genes on both cortical and subcortical development in mammals.

Imaging sex/gender and autism in the brain: Etiological implications

TL;DR: Both human and animal studies converge to indicate that the brain characteristics of autism are partly associated with normative brain sex/gender differences, suggesting convergence or overlap between the mechanisms leading to and modifying the development of autism and the mechanisms underlying sex differentiation and/or gender socialization.

Globally Divergent but Locally Convergent X- and Y-Chromosome Influences on Cortical Development

TL;DR: Convergent X-Y effects track the dosage of those few genes that are still shared by X- and Y-chromosomes, and may provide a biological substrate for the link between SCA and increased rates of psychopathology.
