TLDR
It is proposed that hispolon provides a novel opportunity for pharmacological applications and its styrylpyrone carbon skeleton might serve as an attractive scaffold for drug development, and future researchers are recommended to assess bioavailability, toxicological limits, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of hisPolon, in order to establish its potential as a potent multi-targeted drug in the near future.

Dehydroxyhispolon Methyl Ether, A Hispolon Derivative, Inhibits WNT/β-Catenin Signaling to Elicit Human Colorectal Carcinoma Cell Apoptosis.

TL;DR: DHME was found to be more cytotoxic than hispolon against a panel of human CRC cell lines, while exerting limited toxicity to normal human colon cell line CCD 841 CoN, and provoking CRC cell apoptosis via suppression of the WNT/β-catenin signaling axis.

Polyphenols: food sources and bioavailability

TL;DR: The nature and contents of the various polyphenols present in food sources and the influence of agricultural practices and industrial processes are reviewed, and bioavailability appears to differ greatly between the variousPolyphenols, and the most abundantpolyphenols in the authors' diet are not necessarily those that have the best bioavailability profile.
