Hybrid protein formation of E. coli alkaline phosphatase leading to in vitro complementation.

TLDR
Results support the theory of hybrid protein formation which has been proposed to account for intra-cistron complementation and support the normal alkaline phosphatase protein is composed of two identical subunits whose structure is determined by a single functioning genetic unit.

Heat shock proteins.

TL;DR: The enhanced synthesis of a few proteins immediately after subjecting cells to a stress such as heat shock was first reported for drosophila cells in 1974 and the universality of the response from bacteria to human was recognized shortly thereafter.

Cholera toxin transcriptional activator ToxR is a transmembrane DNA binding protein

TL;DR: DNA binding assays and a deletion analysis of the cholera toxin promoter support a model for transcriptional activation that involves ToxR binding to a tandemly repeated 7 bp DNA sequence 56 bp upstream of the transcriptional start point.

The AP2 domain of APETALA2 defines a large new family of DNA binding proteins in Arabidopsis

TL;DR: It is shown that the AP2 domain containing or RAP2 (related to AP2) family of proteins is encoded by a minimum of 12 genes in Arabidopsis, and unlike other floral homeotic genes, AP2 is active during both reproductive and vegetative development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetics of poliovirus.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the role of eDNA and in VITRO SYNTHESIS of INFECTIOUS VIRAL RNA in the selection and generation of mutants.

A Method for Determining the Sedimentation Behavior of Enzymes: Application to Protein Mixtures

TL;DR: Sucrose gradient centrifugation is found to be a suitable method for determining sedimentation coefficients of enzymes in protein mixtures and the sedimentation behavior of several of the enzymes in the pathway of histidine biosynthesis in S. typhimurium has been determined.

Genetic control of repression of alkaline phosphatase in E. coli.

TL;DR: Results of cis-trans tests show that the constitutive alleles of the two genes are recessive in both cis and trans positions relative to the structural gene, which suggests that each regulator gene plays an essential role in the formation of a repressor for alkaline phosphatase.
