TLDR
The comparison of two treatments generally falls into one of the following two categories: (a) a number of replications for each of the two treatments, which are unpaired, or (b) we may have a series of paired comparisons, some of which may be positive and some negative as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract
The comparison of two treatments generally falls into one of the following two categories: (a) we may have a number of replications for each of the two treatments, which are unpaired, or (b) we may have a number of paired comparisons leading to a series of differences, some of which may be positive and some negative. The appropriate methods for testing the significance of the differences of the means in these two cases are described in most of the textbooks on statistical methods.

Objective definition of rainfall intensity–duration thresholds for the initiation of post-fire debris flows in southern California

TL;DR: In this article, an objective method to define the threshold intensities for post-fire debris-flow prediction is proposed. But, the objective method is limited to the number of correct predictions of debris flow occurrence while minimizing the rate of both Type I (false positive) and Type II (false negative) errors.

Using Weighted Rankings in the Analysis of Complete Blocks with Additive Block Effects

TL;DR: In this article, a general family of weighted-rankings test statistics for comparing two or more treatments is presented, which are simple to compute, are strictly distribution free, and have asymptotic chi-squared distributions.

Abrogation of Macrophage-dependent Injury in Experimental Glomerulonephritis in the Rabbit: USE OF AN ANTIMACROPHAGE SERUM

TL;DR: Inhibition of macrophage accumulation can largely prevent these forms of experimental glomerulonephritis, thereby implicating macrophages as mediators of glomerular injury and consequent proteinuria.

Touch-less interactive augmented reality game on vision-based wearable device

TL;DR: In this article, a touchless motion interaction technology is designed and evaluated in order to develop touch-less, interactive and augmented reality games on vision-based wearable device, and three primitive AR games with eleven dynamic gestures are developed based on the proposed touchless interaction technology as proof.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fibroblastic foci in usual interstitial pneumonia: idiopathic versus collagen vascular disease.

TL;DR: It is concluded that patients with collagen vascular disease-associated usual interstitial pneumonia have fewer fibroblastic foci and improved survival.

The Use of Ranks to Avoid the Assumption of Normality Implicit in the Analysis of Variance

TL;DR: The use of ranks to avoid the assumption of normality implicit in the analysis of variance has been studied in this article, where the use of rank to avoid normality is discussed.
