TLDR
The effect of an antimicrobial antibiotic, streptovaricin, was studied on DNA-dependent RNA-synthetic reaction by RNA polymerase which was extracted from Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells in a soluble state and showed no inhibition of the reaction.

Rifamycins--obstacles and opportunities.

TL;DR: It is suggested that it is quite possible to devise improved rifamycin analogs, and improved activity against rifampin-resistant strains by some analogs promises that further work in this area, especially if the information from co-crystal structures with RNA polymerase is applied, should lead to even better analogs.

Inhibition of dna-dependent rna synthesis by rifamycins

TL;DR: The results indicate that the incorporation of 3H-CMP into acid insoluble fraction by RNA polymerase of E. coli was markedly inhibited by both anti biotics at a concentration as low as 0.1 jum.

A rifampicin resistent rna-polymerase from E. coli altered in the β-subunit

TL;DR: Evidence is presented indicating that rifampicin may interact with subunit 0, which therefore should play a role in initiation of RNA synthesis, and appears to act on an initiation step which precedes the formation of the first internucleotide bond.

A procedure for the isolation of deoxyribonucleic acid from micro-organisms

TL;DR: A method has been described for the isolation of DNA from micro-organisms which yields stable, biologically active, highly polymerized preparations relatively free from protein and RNA, and Representative samples have been characterized for their thermal stability and sedimentation behaviour.

Base Specificity in the Interaction of Polynucleotides with Antibiotic Drugs

TL;DR: Chromomycin and olivomycin form complexes with DNA, preferably in the helical form, but not with RNA, and none of the other antibiotics requires the presence of any single base in the template for its action.
