Intrapancreatic fat deposition and visceral fat volume are associated with the presence of diabetes after acute pancreatitis

TLDR
Individuals with diabetes after acute pancreatitis have significantly higher intrapancreatic fat percentage, visceral fat volume, and V/S fat volume ratio, and levels of C-reactive protein during AP are significantly associated with VFV, whereas biliary AP is significant associated with intrapANCreaticfat percentage.
Abstract
Individuals with diabetes after acute pancreatitis have significantly higher intrapancreatic fat percentage and visceral fat volume compared with individuals without diabetes after acute pancreatit...

Antidiabetic Medications and Mortality Risk in Individuals With Pancreatic Cancer-Related Diabetes and Postpancreatitis Diabetes: A Nationwide Cohort Study.

TL;DR: Metformin promotes a survival benefit in individuals with PPDM but not PCRD, and reverse causality may play a role in the association between insulin use and mortality in PCRD.

Trajectories of glycaemia following acute pancreatitis: a prospective longitudinal cohort study with 24 months follow-up.

TL;DR: This first prospective cohort study of changes in glycaemia showed that at least one out of five patients develops new-onset prediabetes or diabetes at 6 months of follow-up and more than four out of ten—in the first 2 years.

A Systematic Review of Intra-pancreatic Fat Deposition and Pancreatic Carcinogenesis

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive systematic review of clinical studies on intra-pancreatic fat deposition in individuals with pancreatic cancer or pre-malignant lesions was conducted, and the authors found that the presence of pancreatic malignancy was associated with a significantly increased risk of fat deposition (relative risk 2.78 (95% confidence interval, 1.56-4.94, p < 0.001).

Global epidemiology and holistic prevention of pancreatitis.

TL;DR: This Review provides precise and up-to-date data on the burden of acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and post-pancreatitis diabetes mellitus, and introduces a framework for the holistic prevention of pancreatitis with a view to providing guidance on strategies and intervention objectives at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
