Isolation and structural elucidation of a novel brunnein-type antioxidant β-carboline alkaloid from Cyclocybe cylindracea.

TLDR
Effect-directed isolation of free radical scavengers from the methanol extract of the freeze-dried fruiting bodies of the cultivated basidiomycetous mushroom, black poplar, yielded a β-carboline alkaloid that was not reported previously.

Medicinal mushrooms as a source of antitumor and immunomodulating polysaccharides.

TL;DR: The present review analyzes the pecularities of polysaccharides derived from fruiting bodies and cultured mycelium in selected examples of medicinal mushrooms and concludes that high molecular weight glucans appear to be more effective than those of low molecular weight.

Circular Dichroism and Absolute Conformation: Application of Qualitative MO Theory to Chiroptical Phenomena†

Günther Snatzke
- 01 May 1979 -
TL;DR: In this paper, an attempt is made to bridge the wide gap between theory and empiricism: "qualitative MO-theory" which has already been successfully used to explain reaction mechanisms, the shape of molecules, or photoelectron spectra, can also be applied to circular dichroism (CD).
