TLDR
The hypothesis was that dispersal capacity would influence the spatial scale at which ground-dwelling arthropods responded to landscape structure and it was found that Carabidae, which generally disperse by walking, responded to smaller spatial scales than linyphiid spiders, which frequently balloon.

Journal ArticleDOI

A meta-analysis of crop pest and natural enemy response to landscape complexity.

TL;DR: A meta-analysis of 46 landscape-level studies found that natural enemies have a strong positive response to landscape complexity, and suggests that land management strategies to enhance natural pest control should differ depending on whether the dominant enemies are generalists or specialists.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of pollinators and natural enemies: a meta-analysis of landscape and local effects on abundance and richness in crops.

TL;DR: It is concluded that some pollinators and natural enemies seem to have compatible responses to complexity, and it might be possible to manage agroecosystems for the benefit of both.
Journal ArticleDOI

Landscape structure and habitat management differentially influence insect natural enemies in an agricultural landscape

TL;DR: This work used soybean aphid, Aphis glycines, and its coccinellid predators as a model system to elucidate the effects of habitat management and landscape on biocontrol services in soybean and found no evidence of an interaction between landscape and local variables, and biocentrol services were high in all contexts.

Model Selection and Multimodel Inference: A Practical Information-Theoretic Approach

TL;DR: The second edition of this book is unique in that it focuses on methods for making formal statistical inference from all the models in an a priori set (Multi-Model Inference).

Measurement of diversity

E. H. Simpson
- 01 Jan 1949 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors define and examine a measure of concentration in terms of population constants, and examine the relationship between the characteristic and the index of diversity when both are applied to a logarithmic distribution.

Landscape perspectives on agricultural intensification and biodiversity – ecosystem service management

TL;DR: In this article, the negative and positive effects of agricultural land use for the conservation of biodiversity, and its relation to ecosystem services, need a landscape perspective, which is difficult to be found in the literature.

REVIEWS AND SYNTHESES Landscape perspectives on agricultural intensification and biodiversity - ecosystem service management

TL;DR: In this article, the negative and positive effects of agricultural land use for the conservation of biodiversity, and its relation to ecosystem services, need a landscape perspective, which may compensate for local highintensity management.
