Load response and fatigue life of cement-stabilized macadam base structure considering dynamic and static load differences and tension-compression modulus differences

TLDR
In this paper , a semi-rigid base asphalt pavement (SRBAP) construction is designed with the classical theory of linear elastic mechanics and a significant discrepancy between the calculation results of the pavement structure load response and the measured results, which leads to inaccurate structural resistance and load response calculations.

Main flexible pavement and mix design methods in Europe and challenges for the development of an European method

TL;DR: In this paper, a brief historical overview of pavement design methods is presented, highlighting early limitations of old empirical methods, and the main challenges for the development of a European pavement design method are presented as well as the recent research developments that can be used for that method.
Journal ArticleDOI

A state of the art of semi-flexible pavements: Introduction, design, and performance

TL;DR: Semi-flexible pavement (SFP) as discussed by the authors is a new pavement technology consisting of open-graded asphalt concrete with a high air void content filled by injecting special grouting materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative Study of Asphalt Pavement Responses under FWD and Moving Vehicular Loading

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared pavement responses caused by impulsive dynamic loading and moving vehicular loading using mechanistic pavement analysis, and found that the pulse durations of compressive stresses in the asphalt layer were significantly affected by speed and pavement depth in what can be described as an exponential relationship.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical investigation of the mechanical response of semi-rigid base asphalt pavement under traffic load and nonlinear temperature gradient effect

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the distribution of the mechanical parameters in three new semi-rigid pavement structures with typical functional and structural requirements, specially designed to withstand various distresses of semirigid pavements.

Effect of vehicle speed and overload on dynamic response of semi-rigid base asphalt pavement

TL;DR: In this article, a semi-rigid base asphalt pavement is still considered as one of the main distress related to Chinese highway pavements, and there are several reasons for this premature damage.
