Shock wave structure for generalized Burnett equations

TL;DR: In this article, the generalized Burnett equations (GBE) were used to solve the shock wave problem for various Mach numbers and compared with the numerical solutions of Navier-Stokes equations and with the Mott-Smith approximation for the Boltzmann equation (all calculations are done for Maxwell molecules).
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Hyperbolic Moment Equations Using Quadrature-Based Projection Methods

TL;DR: In this article, the authors extend the proof for global hyperbolicity of the quadrature-based moment system system to arbitrary dimensions, utilizing quadratures-based projectors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fundamental solutions to moment equations for the simulation of microscale gas flows

TL;DR: In this paper, fundamental solutions to Grad's steady-state linearised 13-moment equations for non-equilibrium gas flow are derived. But their solutions are mesh free, and bene t from not having to truncate and discretise an in nite three-dimensional domain.
Journal ArticleDOI

Moment Closure Approximations of the Boltzmann Equation Based on \varphi -Divergences

TL;DR: In this paper, a generalization of the setting of the moment-closure problem from relative entropy to divergence-based divergences is proposed, which leads to a hierarchy of tractable symmetric hyperbolic systems that retain the fundamental structural properties of the Boltzmann equation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The general form of transport diffusivity of shale gas in organic-rich nano-slits—A molecular simulation study using Darken approximation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the diffusion behavior of shale gas in nano-scale channels and established a calculation method for generalized transport diffusivity using Darken approximation by molecular simulation (MS).
