Full-scale finite element modeling and nonlinear bending analysis of sandwich plates with functionally graded auxetic 3D lattice core:
Chong Li,Hui-Shen Shen,Hai Wang +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the nonlinear bending behavior of sandwich plates with functionally graded auxetic 3D lattice core was investigated and an auxetic metamaterial with negative effe...
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling the effects of negative Poisson's ratios in continuous-fibre composites
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a large negative Poisson's ratio can lead to considerably enhanced transverse moduli without altering the longitudinal moduli. But the authors did not consider the possibility of using either reinforcing or matrix constituents with large negative poisson's ratios (with values of −1.0 ⩽v⩽−0.3).

Negative Poisson's ratio behavior in the planar model of asymmetric trimers at zero temperature
TL;DR: In this article, the elastic constants of two-dimensional soft cyclic trimers, exhibiting asymmetry and atomic size dispersion, were studied at zero temperature and the essential influence of the molecular asymmetry on the elastic properties was shown.
submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of
TL;DR: In this article, a case study of the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Pietermaritzburg campus was conducted to investigate the challenges faced by students with disabilities.

Computational Simulation and Optimization of Functionally Graded Auxetic Structures Made From Inverted Tetrapods
TL;DR: In this article, a new shape optimization procedure to develop new auxetic structures with functionally graded geometry is proposed and tested in a case study, which is especially important in impact or ballistic performance of modern composite materials.

Cellular Solids: Structure and Properties
Lorna J. Gibson,Michael F. Ashby +1 more
TL;DR: The linear elasticity of anisotropic cellular solids is studied in this article. But the authors focus on the design of sandwich panels with foam cores and do not consider the properties of the materials.

Foam structures with a negative poisson's ratio
TL;DR: A novel foam structure is presented, which exhibits a negative Poisson's ratio, and such a material expands laterally when stretched, in contrast to ordinary materials.
