Motivation through the Design of Work: Test of a Theory.

In this paper, a model is proposed that specifies the conditions under which individuals will become internally motivated to perform effectively on their jobs, focusing on the interaction among three classes of variables: (a) the psychological states of employees that must be present for internally motivated work behavior to develop; (b) the characteristics of jobs that can create these psychological states; and (c) the attributes of individuals that determine how positively a person will respond to a complex and challenging job.

Testing multiplicative models does not require ratio scales

TL;DR: In this article, a method to test unambiguously for the presence of interaction when variables are measured on ratio, interval, or ordinal scales is presented. But the test is invariant under all linear transformations of the form aX + b of E, V, or both E and V. This invariance is contrasted to the wide fluctuations in zero order correlations between motivational force and the E × V product shown by Schmidt 1973.

Exploring the relationship between employee creativity and job-related motivators in the Hong Kong hotel industry.

TL;DR: In this article, a case study of hotel employees in Hong Kong was used to determine if there is any relationship between employee creativity and job-related motivators, and the authors found that intrinsic job related motivators which include opportunity for advancement and development, loyalty to employees, appreciation and praise of work done, feelings of being involved, sympathetic help with personal problems and interesting work, are found to encourage the hotel employees' risk-taking behavior.
