TLDR
Pig brain thiamine pyrophosphokinase was purified 260-fold over extracts of brain acetone powder and a preliminary study of the kinetics of the reaction reveals that the enzyme may function via a partial "ping-pong" mechanism.

The role of thiamine in nervous tissue.

TL;DR: It is suggested that despite the lack of hard evidence, it is likely that the vitamin possesses this alternate function of thiamine.

Mechanism of Thiamine Transport in Neuroblastoma Cells. Inhibition of a High Affinity Carrier by Sodium Channel Activators and Dependence of Thiamine Uptake on Membrane Potential and Intracellular Atp

TL;DR: Thiamine transport in mouse neuroblastoma cells is studied to suggest a secondary active transport of thiamine, the main driving force being Thiamine phosphorylation rather than the sodium gradient.

Thiamine, thiamine phosphates, and their metabolizing enzymes in human brain.

TL;DR: There was no differences in the total thiamine content between biopsied and autopsied human brain, except that in the latter, Thiamine triphosphate was undetectable.

Nervous tissue thiamine metabolism in vivo. II. Thiamine and its phosphoesters dynamics in different brain regions and sciatic nerve of the rat.

TL;DR: The shortest turnover time of TPP was found in the cerebellum, while the sciatic nerve exhibited the fastest renewal of T and TMP, suggesting that its function might be associated to a rapid conversion into chemically different forms.

A simple efficient liquid scintillator for counting aqueous solutions in a liquid scintillation counter

TL;DR: A modification of the naphthalene-dioxane-PPO liquid scintillator has been described which will allow up to 3.0 ml of an aqueous solution to be counted as mentioned in this paper.

The kinetics of enzyme-catalyzed reactions with two or more substrates or products. I. Nomenclature and rate equations

TL;DR: A nomenclature to facilitate discussion of possible mechanisms for enzyme-catalyzed reactions with more than one substrate or product is proposed and examples are given to illustrate the types of information about reaction mechanisms that can be obtained.
