Automatic Breast Ultrasound Image Segmentation: A Survey

TL;DR: The basic ideas, theories, pros and cons of the approaches, group them into categories, and extensively review each category in depth by discussing the principles, application issues, and advantages/disadvantages are studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Supervised Neural Gas with General Similarity Measure

TL;DR: A generalization of learning vector quantization with three additional features: it directly integrates neighborhood cooperation, hence is less affected by local optima, and the method can be combined with any differentiable similarity measure.

Alkyldibenzofurans in terrestrial rocks: influence of organic facies and maturation

TL;DR: In this paper, Dibenzofuran (DBF), dibenzothiophene (DBT), and phenanthrene (PHE) were determined along with their methyl derivatives (MDBFs, MDBTs, MPs) in coals, carbonaceous shales, and mudstones from the Elmworth gas field (Canada) and from the Sakoa (Madagascar) and Ruhr coal (Germany) basins.

A Large-Scale Systematic Evaluation of Algorithms Using Ground-Penetrating Radar for Landmine Detection and Discrimination

TL;DR: A large-scale cross-validation evaluation of four quite different approaches in using data collected by a vehicle-mounted ground-penetrating radar sensor to detect landmines and distinguish them from clutter objects is presented.

Estimation of breast percent density in raw and processed full field digital mammography images via adaptive fuzzy c-means clustering and support vector machine segmentation

TL;DR: A new algorithm for fully automated quantification of breast PD% based on adaptive multiclass fuzzy c-means clustering and support vector machine (SVM) classification, optimized for the imaging characteristics of both raw and processed digital mammography images as well as for individual patient and image characteristics is proposed.

Nearest neighbor pattern classification

TL;DR: The nearest neighbor decision rule assigns to an unclassified sample point the classification of the nearest of a set of previously classified points, so it may be said that half the classification information in an infinite sample set is contained in the nearest neighbor.

Introduction to Statistical Pattern Recognition

TL;DR: This completely revised second edition presents an introduction to statistical pattern recognition, which is appropriate as a text for introductory courses in pattern recognition and as a reference book for workers in the field.

A fuzzy relative of the isodata process and its use in detecting compact well-separated clusters

J. C. Dunn
TL;DR: In this paper, two fuzzy versions of the k-means optimal, least squared error partitioning problem are formulated for finite subsets X of a general inner product space, and the extremizing solutions are shown to be fixed points of a certain operator T on the class of fuzzy, k-partitions of X, and simple iteration of T provides an algorithm which has the descent property relative to the LSE criterion function.
