TLDR
In this article, a bifurcation analysis of a solid composed of alternating material layers is carried out, and conditions under which periodic incremental deformations (eigenmodes) consistent with an overall homogeneous stretching, can emerge when the solid is subjected to plane strain, uniaxial tension parallel to the layer interfaces.

Effect of interfacial compliance on bifurcation of a layer bonded to a substrate

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of interfacial compliance on the bifurcation of a layer bonded to a substrate is analyzed, and the authors consider the case where the layer and substrate are subject to plane strain compression, with the compression axis parallel to the bond line.

Bending behaviors and fracture characteristics of laminatedductile-tough composites under different modes

TL;DR: In this article, the bending load-deflection curves and fracture characteristics of a range of laminated Ti (TiBw/Ti) composites were investigated under five modes. And the results showed ductile-brittle transition with decreasing Ti layer thicknesses and increasing volume fractions of TiBw, which is attributed to the constrained plastic deformation mechanism accompanying with high stress traixiality and tensile stress.

Localized necking in thin sheets

TL;DR: Using a simplified constitutive model of a pointed vertex on subsequent yield loci, the onset of localized necking under biaxial stretching has been predicted and this result supports the hypothesis of vertex-formation on the yield locus under continued plastic flow.

Bifurcation phenomena in the plane tension test

TL;DR: In this article, a basic tensile bifurcation problem is studied for an incompressible rectangular block constrained to undergo plane deformations, where the sides of the block are traction-free and it is elongated by a uniform, shear-free, relative displacement of its ends.

Bimaterial interface instabilities in plastic solids

TL;DR: In this paper, a bifurcation analysis of a finite thickness layer embedded in an infinite body of different material properties is carried out, and the conditions required for in-plane undulations confined to the vicinity of the bimaterial interface to develop from a state of homogeneous plane-strain tensile deformation are investigated.
