Preoperative Assessment as a Predictor of Mortality and Morbidity After Lung Resection

TL;DR: Preoperative pulmonary scintigraphy was used to calculate the contribution to overall function by the affected lung or lobe and to predict postoperative lung function, and predicted postoperative FEV1 (FEV1-ppo), diffusing capacity (DLCO) and exercise-induced arterial O2 desaturation (delta SaO2) were predictive of postoperative complications including death and respiratory failure.

Prediction of cardiopulmonary morbidity after resection for lung cancer: stair climbing test complications after lung cancer surgery.

TL;DR: A modified stair climbing test is a safe, economical and simple test capable of predicting cardiopulmonary complications and Logistic regression analysis showed that the percent of oxygen saturation pre-exercise and the change in% of oxygen desaturation during exercise were independent and reliable predictors of cardiopULmonary morbidity.
