Physiologic evaluation of the patient with lung cancer being considered for resectional surgery: Diagnosis and management of lung cancer, 3rd ed: American College of Chest Physicians evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
TLDR
A careful preoperative physiologic assessment is useful for identifying those patients at increased risk with standard lung cancer resection and for enabling an informed decision by the patient about the appropriate therapeutic approach to treating his or her lung cancer.About:

Prediction of postoperative cardiopulmonary complications after lung resection in a Chinese population: A machine learning-based study
TL;DR: Three models were developed and validated for predicting postoperative cardiopulmonary complications among Chinese patients with lung cancer and showed good calibration, and the percentage of predicted postoperative forced expiratory volume and the ratio of Forced vital capacity might be the most important variables.
Book ChapterDOI
Preoperative Evaluation of the Thoracic Patient
TL;DR: This chapter discusses the preoperative considerations of a patient undergoing thoracic surgery, and Physiological effects, cardiac risk assessment, and preoperative investigations are summarized, along with strategies for mitigating cardiopulmonary adverse events.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors present the recommendations made by different specialties involved in the perioperative care of patients who require resection of a lung tumor, including those that refer to pre-habilitation, minimization of surgical aggression, excellence in the management of per-operative pain and postoperative care aimed at providing rapid postoperative rehabilitation.

Analysis of factors predicting the application of chemical pleurodesis for pneumothorax
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated predictive factors for the application of chemical pleurodesis for pneumothorax, including the following factors: age ≥55 years, presence of emphysema and/or interstitial pneumonitis; and use of chest tube suction.

Derivation and Prospective Validation of a Simple Index for Prediction of Cardiac Risk of Major Noncardiac Surgery

TL;DR: In stable patients undergoing nonurgent major noncardiac surgery, this index can identify patients at higher risk for complications and may be useful for identification of candidates for further risk stratification with noninvasive technologies or other management strategies.
