Plate tectonics in the classification of personality disorder: shifting to a dimensional model.

TLDR
It may be time to consider a shift to a dimensional classification of personality disorder that would help address the failures of the existing diagnostic categories as well as contribute to an integration of the psychiatric diagnostic manual with psychology's research on general personality structure.
Abstract
The diagnostic categories of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders were developed in the spirit of a traditional medical model that considers mental disorders to be qualitatively distinct conditions (see, e.g., American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Work is now beginning on the fifth edition of this influential diagnostic manual. It is perhaps time to consider a fundamental shift in how psychopathology is conceptualized and diagnosed. More specifically, it may be time to consider a shift to a dimensional classification of personality disorder that would help address the failures of the existing diagnostic categories as well as contribute to an integration of the psychiatric diagnostic manual with psychology's research on general personality structure.

Contextualizing neuroticism in the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology

TL;DR: The Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) is a recently proposed nosologic framework for psychopathology symptoms and domains that accounts for this tiered organization as discussed by the authors. But the HiTOP system is not suitable for the analysis of personality traits.

Level of personality functioning as a predictor of psychosocial functioning-Concurrent validity of criterion A.

TL;DR: For both measures, the mean LPFS was a stronger predictor for psychosocial impairment than the sum of DSM-IV PD criteria, and within the LPFS, the Self component was a better predictor than the Interpersonal component for both WSAS and GAF-F.

Is there adequate empirical justification for radically revising the personality disorders section for DSM-5?

TL;DR: The present review suggests that several of the core problems linked to the DSM-IV approach toward diagnosing PDs are more likely due to methodological factors than inadequacies of the criteria themselves.

Revising the Personality Disorder Diagnostic Criteria for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition (DSM-V): Consider the Later Life Context

TL;DR: A failure to address the unique challenges associated with the assessment of personality in older adults likely will result in the continued limited validity, reliability, and utility of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) system for this growing population.

An Investigation of the Factor Structure and Convergent and Discriminant Validity of the Five-Factor Model Rating Form:

TL;DR: The results suggest that the FFMRF might hold promise as a choice for those seeking a brief measure that provides a valid assessment of both the broad and specific traits of the FFM.

Construct validity in psychological tests.

TL;DR: The present interpretation of construct validity is not "official" and deals with some areas where the Committee would probably not be unanimous, but the present writers are solely responsible for this attempt to explain the concept and elaborate its implications.
