Predictive controllers for thermal comfort optimization and energy savings

TLDR
In this article, the authors focused on the study of indoor thermal comfort control problem in buildings equipped with HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, where the occupants' thermal comfort sensation is addressed by the well-known comfort index known as PMV and by a comfort zone defined in a psychrometric chart.

Achieving better energy-efficient air conditioning - A review of technologies and strategies

TL;DR: In this article, air conditioning is essential for maintaining thermal comfort in indoor environments, particularly for hot and humid climates, and it has been shown that air conditioning, comprising cooling and dehumidification, has a significant impact on thermal comfort.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental analysis of model predictive control for an energy efficient building heating system

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the analysis of energy savings that can be achieved in a building heating system by applying model predictive control (MPC) and using weather predictions.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review on modeling and simulation of building energy systems

TL;DR: A review of all the significant modeling methodologies which have been developed and adopted to model the energy systems of buildings is presented in this paper, where the focus is majorly focused on the works which involved development of the control strategies by modeling the building energy systems.

Model predictive control of a building heating system: The first experience

TL;DR: In this article, a model predictive controller (MPC) is applied to the temperature control of real building, which uses both weather forecast and thermal model of a building to inside temperature control.

A standard predictive index of human response to the thermal environment

TL;DR: The three rational indices of this type to be considered are ASHRAE's Standard Effective Temperature (SET*) Index, defined as the equivalent dry bulb temperature of an isothermal environment at 50% RH in which a subject, while wearing clothing standardized for activity concerned, would have the same heat stress (skin temperature T/sub sk/) and thermo-regulatory strain (skin wettedness, w) as in the actual test environment; Fanger's Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) index, defined in terms of the heat load that would be required to restore
