TLDR
The X-ray crystallography data indicate that the basic crystalline structure of the cellulosic component of corn stover is not altered by the ARP treatment, and low-liquid ARP can reduce the liquid throughput and residence time to 3.3 mL/g-biomass and 10-12 min, without adversely affecting the overall effectiveness.

Enzymatic Hydrolysis and Physiochemical Characterization of Corn Leaf after H-AFEX Pretreatment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied hydrogen peroxide presoaking prior to ammonia fiber expansion (H-AFEX) to enhance fermentable sugars production from corn leaf, which showed that the HAFEX process was an effective pretreatment for improving enzymatic hydrolysis of corn leaf.

Fractal kinetic analysis of the enzymatic saccharification of cellulose under different conditions.

TL;DR: The model exhibits that an addition of nonionic surfactant or polymer increases the rate coefficient and decreases the fractal exponent at the same time and may be a potential medium engineering method for enzymatic saccharification of cellulose in biofuel industry.

Fundamental factors affecting biomass enzymatic reactivity.

TL;DR: An empirical model was identified that describes the roles of lignin content, acetyl contents, and crystallinity indices in enzymatic hydrolysis and the digestibility of several lime-treated biomass samples agreed with the empirical model.

Pretreatment of corn stover by aqueous ammonia.

TL;DR: Corn stover was pretreated with aqueous ammonia in a flow-through column reactor, a process termed ammonia recycled percolation (ARP), and the enzymatic digestibility was related with the removal of lignin and hemicellulose, perhaps due to increased surface area and porosity.

The effect of initial pore volume and lignin content on the enzymatic hydrolysis of softwoods

TL;DR: In this paper, the lignin content and initial pore volume of Douglas fir pulps, a refiner mechanical pulp (RMP), sulphonated RMP, delignified RMP and a kraft pulp were compared on the basis of lignins content.

Evaluation of cellulase recycling strategies for the hydrolysis of lignocellulosic substrates.

TL;DR: Three recycling strategies were evaluated to determine their efficiencies over five successive rounds of hydrolysis and, in all three of the recycling strategies, lower cellulase activities were recovered from the substrates with higher lignin contents.
