Islanding detection and load shedding scheme for radial distribution systems integrated with dispersed generations

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple and effective passive islanding detection method is developed based on the phase-space technique and using a probabilistic neural network-based classifier, after the system detects unintentional islanding state, it utilises an optimal load shedding scheme to prevent system collapse due to load-generation mismatch and voltage instability encountered in the islanded part of the system.

Counting people using video cameras

TL;DR: Using the ratio of foreground pixels in each cell of a rectangular grid for estimating the number of people visible in a camera allowed reaching accuracy up to 85% for exact match and up to 95% for plus–minus one estimates for an indoor surveillance environment.

Probabilistic neural network with homogeneity testing in recognition of discrete patterns set

TL;DR: The novel modification of the PNN with homogeneity testing is presented which gives an optimal solution of the latter task under the same assumption about probability densities and supports the statement that the proposed network provides better accuracy (1%-7%) and is much more resistant to change of the smoothing parameter of Gaussian kernel function in comparison with the original PNN.

Appropriate medical data categorization for data mining classification techniques.

TL;DR: Compared with original or normalized data, data categorized by the MDLPC categorization method was found to perform better in most of the DM classification techniques used in this study.

Automatic quality evaluation of fruits using Probabilistic Neural Network approach

TL;DR: The purpose, in this study, is to develop a non-destructive method to classify the apple fruits based on the external quality by studying the damages inflicted on apple fruits and presenting various feature extraction methods.

Nearest neighbor pattern classification

TL;DR: The nearest neighbor decision rule assigns to an unclassified sample point the classification of the nearest of a set of previously classified points, so it may be said that half the classification information in an infinite sample set is contained in the nearest neighbor.

On Estimation of a Probability Density Function and Mode

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of the estimation of a probability density function and of determining the mode of the probability function is discussed. Only estimates which are consistent and asymptotically normal are constructed.
