TLDR
In this paper, a method for the calculation of optimum cooling curves based on a simple mathematical description of the individual kinetic processes involved in a crystallization operation is presented, and the results show that the programmed cooling brings about a significant increase in the size and an improvement in the quality of crystals from a batch crystallizer.

The periodic behaviour of continuous crystallizers

TL;DR: In this paper, a mathematical model of a continuous stirred crystallizer is presented which demonstrates that periodic changes of supersaturation, solid phase content, crystal size and production rate can readily occur, and that under certain conditions the steady state may not be established.
