TLDR
Twenty-five substituted 5-arylazopyrimidine derivatives have been prepared as potential “small molecule” antagonists of folic acid via reaction of 5-unsubstituted pyrim-idines with appropriate diazotized aniline derivatives and showed effective tumor growth inhibition, as evidenced by reduction in mean tumor size.

Some pyrimidines of biological and medicinal interest. 3.

TL;DR: Pyrimidine derivatives have been found to possess fungicidal, antibacterial, antimitotic, antithyroid and surface-anaesthesia activities, with the exception of pyrimidine antibiotics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Waste-free chemistry of diazonium salts and benign separation of coupling products in solid salt reactions.

TL;DR: Gas-solid and solid-solid techniques allow for waste-free and quantitative syntheses in the chemistry of diazonium salts, and the solid-state reactions compare favourably with similar solution reactions that produce much waste.
Journal ArticleDOI

Computerized electronic spectral properties of some azobarbiturate compounds in presence of different solvents

TL;DR: In this article, the solvent effects on the spectra of 5-(p-substituted phenylazo) barbituric acid have been analyzed by the multiple linear regression technique using a Fortran IV program on a PC computer.

Ethenyl-substituted pyridine and pyrimidine derivatives and their use in treating viral infections

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided compounds of Formula (A): (Chemical formula should be inserted here as it appears on abstract in paper form) (A) and tautomers, isomers, and esters of said compounds, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, and prodrugs of the compounds, wherein each of R, R1, X, Y, Z, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R18, R19, R22,

Temporary remissions in acute leukemia in children produced by folic acid antagonist, 4-aminopteroyl-glutamic acid.

TL;DR: The occurrence of what the author interpreted as an "acceleration phenomenon" in the leukemic process as seen in the marrow and viscera of children with acute leukemia treated by the injection of folic acid conjugates1 and pteroyltriglutamic acid (teropterin) — and an experience gained from studies on folic .

Experiments in organic chemistry

Louis Fieser
TL;DR: The first steps in safety practices in the organic chemistry laboratory are outlined in this paper and guidelines for notebooks are discussed. But safety practices are not discussed in detail in this paper.

Biological studies of actinomycin d

TL;DR: In the summer of 1954, a preparation of actinomycin D, made available through the kindness of S. Waksman, was subjected to preliminary trial in the Mouse Bioassay Unit of The Children’s Cancer Research Foundation.
