Rapid isoelectric focusing in a vertical polyacrylamide minigel system.

TLDR
The procedure permits the application of larger sample volumes containing more protein than other isoelectric focusing procedures, and provides the additional advantages of slab gels over tube gels for analytical purposes, making it possible to complete a two-dimensional gel in 1 day.

Crystal structure of a four-copper laccase complexed with an arylamine: insights into substrate recognition and correlation with kinetics.

TL;DR: This is the first high-resolution structure of a multicopper oxidase complexed to a reducing substrate, and it provides a model for engineering laccases that are either more efficient or with a wider substrate specificity.

A Tomato Peroxidase Involved in the Synthesis of Lignin and Suberin

TL;DR: It is proposed that the TPX1 product is involved in the synthesis of lignin and suberin, a tomato peroxidase gene the authors have previously isolated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and characterization of thin, aggregative fimbriae from Salmonella enteritidis.

TL;DR: Novel fimbriae were isolated and purified from the human enteropathogen Salmonella enteritidis 27655 and represent the third fimbrial type produced by the enteringopathogen S. enter itidis, and had a unique N-terminal amino acid sequence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and characterization of three chitinases from Trichoderma harzianum.

TL;DR: Three proteins which display chitinase activity were purified from the supernatants of Trichoderma harzianum CECT 2413 grown in minimal medium supplemented with Chitin as the sole carbon source, suggesting that each protein is encoded by a different gene.

Water Deficit Triggers Phospholipase D Activity in the Resurrection Plant Craterostigma plantagineum

TL;DR: Experimental evidence that PLD is involved in the early events of dehydration in the resurrection plant Craterostigma plantagineum is provided and a role for heterotrimeric G proteins in PLD regulation is proposed.

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of membrane proteins

TL;DR: A high-resolution method for two-dimensional separation of membrane proteins is described, a modification of the one recently described by O'Farrell (1975); about 150 different proteins can be visualized in Escherichia coli or Salmonella typhimurim cell envelopes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of isoelectric focusing running conditions during two-dimensional isoelectric focusing/sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis: variation of gel patterns with changing conditions and optimized isoelectric focusing conditions.

TL;DR: The systematic evaluation indicated that optimized patterns were obtained when increased concentrations of NaOH and H3PO4 and run durations of 10,000 V-h or longer were used, and the need for internal analytical consistency is emphasized.

Isoelectric focusing in agarose

TL;DR: The use of a new agarose for isoelectric focusing of body fluids and tissue proteins even when significantly greater in size than 1 X 10(6) mol.

Two-dimensional electrophoresis of plasma proteins without denaturing agents.

TL;DR: A technique of two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis for the separation of plasma proteins is described, which permits the simultaneous estimation of pI's and approximate molecular weights of native proteins on the slab gel.

Analytical isoelectric focusing using a high-voltage vertical slab polyacrylamide gel system.

TL;DR: High-voltage vertical slab electrofocusing provides a means for rapid resolution of multiple protein samples using stable pH gradients in ranges near pH 2.5 and pH 10.5 in which difficulties have previously been encountered with regard to atmospheric control and temperature regulation using conventional focusing techniques.
