In this paper, the authors derived a set of nonlinear wave-equations for the field and exciton amplitude and the exciton occupation number for both pulse propagation and giant polaritons in crystals.
Abstract
Starting from a Hamiltonian which describes the interaction of the many-electron system of a crystal with the quantized light field, we derive a set of nonlinear wave-equations for the field and exciton amplitude and the exciton occupation number. Our treatment comprises both Frenkel and Wannier excitons. Our equations form a sound basis for treating both pulse-propagation phenomena and giant polaritons in crystals.

TL;DR: In this paper, the transmission of a thin semiconductor platelet is studied by solving Maxwell's equation together with a rate equation for the exciton concentration, and the concentration induced exciton broadening serves as nonlinear mechanism.

Coherence in Spontaneous Radiation Processes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a radiating gas as a single quantum-mechanical system, and the energy levels corresponding to certain correlations between individual molecules were described, where spontaneous emission of radiation in a transition between two such levels leads to the emission of coherent radiation.
