About the “economic” origin of altruism

TL;DR: In this article, an evolutionary model based on a simple inequality system was presented to study the conditions which can permit the emergence and prevalence of altruistic behaviors and showed that given certain conditions, and even without considering group selection, kin selection or reciprocal altruism, altruists may have a greater probability of survival than egoists.

Post-reproductive life span and demographic stability

TL;DR: It is proposed that post-reproductive life span evolves to stabilize predator-prey population dynamics, avoiding local extinctions and stabilizing demographics and avoiding extinction.

The strategy of endogenization in evolutionary biology

Samir Okasha
- 01 Jun 2021 -
TL;DR: A philosophical perspective is offered on the way that evolutionary biology has come to achieve such impressive generality, by focusing on “the strategy of endogenization”, which involves devising evolutionary explanations for biological features that were originally part of the background conditions, or scaffolding, against which such explanations take place.

A mathematical description of the inclusive fitness theory.

TL;DR: A general framework based on a Markov chain that can implement basic models of inclusive fitness, based on the probability distribution of "offspring-to-parent map", is provided, from which the key concepts of the theory are derived in a straightforward manner.
