Medicine, evolution, and natural selection: an historical overview.

TL;DR: This work aims to arrive at an evolutionary understanding of those aspects of the body that leave it vulnerable to disease through evolutionary theory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cooperation in viscous populations—Experimental evidence

TL;DR: It is found that viscosity produces an endogenous sorting of cooperators and defectors and persistently high rates of cooperation.

The Common Ancestor Process for a Wright-Fisher Diffusion

TL;DR: This work describes the process of substitutions to the common ancestor of each population using the structured coalescent process introduced by Kaplan et al. (1988), and shows that the theory can be formally extended to diffusion models with more than two genetic backgrounds, but that it leads to systems of singular partial differential equations which it is unable to solve.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantifying the effects of migration and mutation on adaptation and demography in spatially heterogeneous environments.

TL;DR: A demographic and evolutionary model of adaptation to an environment containing two habitats in equal frequencies is analysed, the links between the model and previous quantitative genetics models are discussed, and the gap between different theoretical frameworks is bridged.
