Efficient bifunctional piezocatalysis of Au/BiVO4 for simultaneous removal of 4-chlorophenol and Cr(VI) in water

TL;DR: In this paper, a piezoelectric material, Au nanoparticles modified BiVO4 (Au/BiVO4), was synthesized and its response was observed by piezo-response force microscopy, which was used as a bifunctional piezocatalyst for simultaneous removal of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) and hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) upon ultrasonic vibration, with 91% and 83% of removal efficiency in 120

Sonocatalytic degradation of RhB over LuFeO3 particles under ultrasonic irradiation.

TL;DR: Hydroxyl (·OH) radicals were detected by fluorimetry using terephthalic acid as a probe molecule, revealing that they are produced over the ultrasonic-irradiated LuFeO3 particles, which indicates that ·OH radicals are the primary active species responsible for the dye degradation.

Degradation of azo dyes using low iron concentration of Fenton and Fenton-like system

TL;DR: This investigation of Fenton and Fenton-like reactions at low iron concentration to oxidize three commercial azo dyes reveals that both of these methods can remove the color of these dyes completely and only produce little sludge in wastewater that meet local effluent standards and do not need to further treat.

Preparation, characterization and photocatalytic activity of polycrystalline zno/tio2 systems. 2. surface, bulk characterization, 4-nitrophenol photodegradation in liquid–solid regime

TL;DR: In this paper, electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and monitoring of pyridine (py) and boric acid trimethyl ester (BATE) adsorption for determining surface acidity and basicity, respectively, were used to carry out further characterization of mixed ZnO/TiO2 polycrystalline solids prepared by different methods.

Removal of C.I. Acid Orange 7 from aqueous solution by UV irradiation in the presence of ZnO nanopowder.

TL;DR: The experiments showed that ZnO nanopowder and UV light had a negligible effect when they were used on their own, and that the complete removal of color, after selecting desired operational parameters could be achieved in a relatively short time.
