Threshold voltage decrease in a thermotropic nematic liquid crystal doped with graphene oxide flakes.
TL;DR: A threshold voltage decrease was observed in a nematic liquid crystal compound, 4-cyano-4′-pentylbiphenyl (5CB), doped with graphene oxide (GO) flakes at a concentration of 0.05–0.3 wt %, related to the disrupted planar alignment due to the strong π–π stacking between the 5CB's benzene rings and the graphene oxide’s structure.

First and second phase transition discovery in amorphous chalcogenide Se60Te30S10 composition
TL;DR: In this paper, an amorphous composition Se60Te30S10 was prepared by the quenching technique and XRD and IR results show an amomorphous composition imbedded with nano-crystallites, and hygroscopic nature of the composition.

TL;DR: The “Activation‐strain TS interaction” (ATS) model of chemical reactivity is reviewed as a conceptual framework for understanding how activation barriers of various types of reaction mechanisms arise and how they may be controlled, for example, in organic chemistry or homogeneous catalysis.

Dispersion and Absorption in Dielectrics I. Alternating Current Characteristics
Kenneth S. Cole,Robert H. Cole +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the locus of the dielectric constant in the complex plane was defined to be a circular arc with end points on the axis of reals and center below this axis.

Towards an order-N DFT method
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss attempts to achieve linear scaling for the calculation of the matrix elements of the exchange-correlation and Coulomb potentials within a particular implementation (the Amsterdam density functional, ADF, code) of the KS method.

Pretransitional Phenomena in the Isotropic Phase of a Nematic Liquid Crystal
T. W. Stinson,J. D. Litster +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors have observed a divergence of the magnetic birefringence, and a critical increase and slowing of the fluctuations in order in the isotropic phase of a nematic liquid crystal.

Isotropic-Nematic Phase Transition in Liquid Crystals
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of applied fields on the phase transition of isotropic-nematic phase transition in liquid crystals were investigated. But the phase-transition was not shown to be second order.
