Structural features of DNA interaction with caffeine and theophylline

TLDR
Spectroscopic evidence showed that the complexation of caffeine and theophylline with DNA occurred via G-C and A-T and PO2 group with overall binding constants of K(caffeine–DNA) = 9.7 × 103 M−1 and K(theophyllines–DNA), and the affinity of ligand–DNA binding is in the order of theophyLLine >  caffeine.

Is caffeine a good scavenger of oxygenated free radicals

TL;DR: RAF has been identified as the main mechanism involved in the direct ROS scavenging activity of CAF, and excellent agreement with the available experimental data supports the reliability of the present calculations.

An overview of structural features of DNA and RNA complexes with saffron compounds: Models and antioxidant activity.

TL;DR: The antioxidant activity of CRT, DMCRT and safranal was tested by the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) antioxidant activity assay and their IC(50) values were compared to that of well known antioxidants such as Trolox and Butylated Hydroxy Toluene (BHT).

DNA adducts with antioxidant flavonoids: morin, apigenin, and naringin.

TL;DR: This study was designed to examine the interactions of morin, naringin (Nar), and apigenin (Api) with calf thymus DNA in aqueous solution at physiological conditions, using constant DNA concentration and various drug/DNA(phosphate) ratios to determine the ligand binding modes, the binding constant, and the stability of DNA in flavonoid-DNA complexes in aQueous solution.

Study of DNA-emodin interaction by FTIR and UV-vis spectroscopy.

TL;DR: UV-spectroscopic results suggest that emodin interaction occurs preferably via adenine and thymine base pairs and also weakly with the phosphate backbone of the DNA double helix, and the binding constant for emodIn-DNA complex formation is estimated to be K=5.59×10(3)M(-1).

Probing the Binding of Insecticide Permethrin to Calf Thymus DNA by Spectroscopic Techniques Merging with Chemometrics Method

TL;DR: The results of FT-IR spectra indicated that PE was prone to bind to G-C base pairs of ctDNA, and the molecular docking studies were used to validate and clarify the specific binding.

A procedure for the isolation of deoxyribonucleic acid from micro-organisms

TL;DR: A method has been described for the isolation of DNA from micro-organisms which yields stable, biologically active, highly polymerized preparations relatively free from protein and RNA, and Representative samples have been characterized for their thermal stability and sedimentation behaviour.

Participation of p53 Protein in the Cellular Response to DNA Damage

TL;DR: A role for the wild-type p53 protein in the inhibition of DNA synthesis that follows DNA damage is suggested and a new mechanism for how the loss of wild- type p53 might contribute to tumorigenesis is suggested.

Actions of Caffeine in the Brain with Special Reference to Factors That Contribute to Its Widespread Use

TL;DR: Caffeine is the most widely consumed behaviorally active substance in the world and almost all caffeine comes from dietary sources (beverages and food).

Organic Structural Spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the Chemical Shift and Coupling Constant were discussed in one-dimensional and two-dimensional NMR, and the chemical shift was shown to increase the coupling constant.
