In this article, a Ka-band sheet beam traveling wave tube (TWT) focused by a 0.2-T closed periodic cusped magnet (PCM) system was reported.Abstract:
This paper reports a Ka-band sheet beam traveling wave tube (TWT) focused by a 0.2 T closed periodic cusped magnet (PCM) system. The TWT with one section of staggered double-vane slow-wave structure (SWS) is driven by a 0.8-A sheet beam with rectangular cross-sectional area of 3.2 mm × 0.6 mm. This sheet beam TWT can produce 100 W output power, and the 3 dB band is 33–38.5 GHz. In order to improve the output power, an optimized sheet beam TWT with two sections of SWSs focused by a novel closed PCM system is proposed. The new closed PCM system is with annular magnetic blocks and can be fabricated and adjusted easily. The simulation shows that the optimized sheet beam TWT can produce 2000 W output power and the 3 dB band ranging from 33 to 40 GHz.read more

The Conditions for Stable Sheet Electron Beams Transport in Periodic Permanent Magnet Fields
Zhanliang Wang,Yubin Gong,Yanyu Wei,Zhaoyun Duan,Huarong Gong,Lingna Yue,Hairong Yin,Zhigang Lu,Jin Xu,Bei-ran Chen,Pu-Kun Liu,Gun-Sik Park +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical study and simulation on sheet beam transport in periodic permanent magnetic (PPM) fields is presented. And the three-dimensional simulations of the beam transport are in good agreement with the theoretical study.

Stability and confinement of nonrelativistic sheet electron beams with periodic cusped magnetic focusing
TL;DR: In this article, two rectangular cross-section magnetic configurations capable of focusing in both transverse dimensions are investigated: (i) a closed-side two-plane PCM configuration that is topologically equivalent to conventional round-cross-section PPM focusing; and (ii) an open-side configuration that uses ponderomotive PCM focusing in the vertical plane and simple vzBy Lorentz force focusing in horizontal plane.
