TLDR
It is shown that λ DNA stimulates a low level of protein synthesis in extracts of E. coli supplemented with RNA polymerase and the main polypeptide product is a low molecular species from the tof operon.
Abstract
λ DNA stimulates a low level of protein synthesis in extracts of E. coli supplemented with RNA polymerase. The synthesis is efficiently and specifically repressed by addition of purified λ repressor. About 90% of the protein product is from the rightwards, or tof, promoter (P R ) and 10% from the leftwards, or N, promoter (P L ). The main polypeptide product is a low molecular species from the tof operon.

Transcription antitermination in vitro by lambda N gene product: Requirement for a phage nut site and the products of host nusA, nusB, and nusE genes

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that none of the these nus mutations affects the synthesis of N or the other nus gene products to cause a defect in antitermination, and rather, these mutations have inactivated a set of specific host components, the Nus factors, which are essential for N activity.

Synthesis of Diphtheria tox-Gene Products in Escherichia coli Extracts

TL;DR: Preliminary experiments suggest that both toxinogenic and nontoxinogenic strains of the diphtheria bacillus contain a factor that specificially blocks expression of the tox gene.

Identification and characterization of the in vitro synthesized gene products of bacteriophage M13.

TL;DR: Results suggest that the latter proteins arise in vivo by cleavage of precursor molecules more than twice as long as their native counterparts present within the virion.

Characterization of polypeptides made in vitro from bacteriophage lambda DNA

TL;DR: The results suggest that most of the coupled polypeptide synthesis arises from early regions of λ DNA in vitro, and with a specificity that helped characterize some gene products.

TL;DR: Using an improved method of gel electrophoresis, many hitherto unknown proteins have been found in bacteriophage T4 and some of these have been identified with specific gene products.
