Novel sulfated ligands for the cell adhesion molecule E-selectin rreveled by the neoglycolipid technology among O-liked oligo-saccharides on an ovarin cystadenoma glycoprotein

C. T. Yuen
TL;DR: To the authors' knowledge this is the first report of a sulfofucooligosaccharide ligand for E-selectin, and the binding activity is substantially greater than those of lipid-linked Le(a) and Le(x)/SSEA-1 sequences and is at least equal to that of the 3'-sialyl-Le(x))/S SEA-1 glycolipid analogue.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of anN-Acetylglucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase from Human Respiratory Mucosa Active on Mucin Carbohydrate Chains

TL;DR: It is pointed out that GlcNAc-6-O-sulfotransferase must act before β1–4 galactosylation in mucin-type oligosaccharide biosynthesis.

Novel lactosamine oligosaccharides and process for the preparation thereof

TL;DR: A process for the preparation of an N-acetyl-lactosamine oligosaccharide which comprises regulating the sulfate group content of keratan sulfate, treating the resulting sulfate with an enzyme having the activity of severing the glycoside linkage of the karatoid sulfate to obtain a sulfated N-acetyllactosamines oligo-sarcide, and desulfating the obtained oligosaca-charide completely is described in this article.

Novel sulfated ligands for the cell adhesion molecule E-selectin revealed by the neoglycolipid technology among O-linked oligosaccharides on an ovarian cystadenoma glycoprotein.

TL;DR: In this paper, a sulfate-containing ligand for the human E-selectin molecule from among oligosaccharides on an ovarian cystadenoma glycoprotein was identified.

6'-sulfated sialyl Lewis x is a major capping group of GlyCAM-1

TL;DR: The nature of the capping group was further defined by studying the effects of sulfation, sialylation, and fucosylation on the ability of exo-beta(1-->4)galactosidase to release [3H]Gal from GlyCAM-1.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Identification of the sulfated monosaccharides of GlyCAM-1, an endothelial-derived ligand for L-selectin.

TL;DR: The structural identification of the fragments relied on the use of a variety of radiolabeled sugar precursors, further chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis, and high-pH anion-exchange chromatography analysis, and evidence is presented that (SO4-6)Gal beta 1-->4GlcNAc forms the core of a sulfated sialyl Lewis x structure that may comprise a recognition determinant on GlyCAM-1.
