Texture analysis using gray level run lengths

TLDR
In this paper, a set of texture features based on gray level run lengths is described, and good classification results are obtained with these features on a sets of samples representing nine terrain types.

Data mining framework for breast lesion classification in shear wave ultrasound: A hybrid feature paradigm

TL;DR: A unique integrated index named Shear Wave Breast Cancer Risk Index (sBCRI) is formulated for characterization of malignant and benign breast lesion using only two features, and can be employed as an ideal screening tool as it has high sensitivity and low false-positive rate.

Characterization of masses in digital breast tomosynthesis: Comparison of machine learning in projection views and reconstructed slices

TL;DR: The authors developed preliminary computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) methods for classification of malignant and benign masses and compared the effectiveness of analyzing lesion characteristics in the reconstructed DBT slices and in the PVs.

Pulmonary imaging after stereotactic radiotherapy—does RECIST still apply?

TL;DR: Overall, the use of RECIST alone may prove inferior to novel metrics of assessing response and advanced quantitative radiomic analysis on CT imaging has demonstrated promise in distinguishing benign fibrotic changes from local recurrence at earlier time points, and more accurately, than physician assessment.

Nuclear texture parameters as discriminant factors in cell cycle and drug sensitivity studies.

TL;DR: The present paper displays the importance of chromatin pattern assessment and detection of conformational changes in DNA structure, based on nine nuclear texture parameters measured from the grey level cooccurrence and the run-length section matrices, and demonstrates that chromatin texture changes, following direct interaction of chemotherapeutic drugs with DNA, may be assessed owing tonuclear texture parameters.

Two combination stages of clustered One-Class Classifiers for writer identification from text fragments

TL;DR: A clustered-based One-Class Classifier is proposed in order to generate more robust classification model than the distance-based classifier for handwritten fragments and a Dynamic Fragment Weighting Combination (DFWC) rule is proposed to reduce the effect of inconsistent test fragments.

Textural Features for Image Classification

TL;DR: These results indicate that the easily computable textural features based on gray-tone spatial dependancies probably have a general applicability for a wide variety of image-classification applications.

Gray-Level Manipulation Experiments for Texture Analysis

TL;DR: Some gray-level manipulation techniques are described, the first of which involves changing thegray-level distribution within the picture, and a method for extracting relatively noise-free objects from a noisy background is described.
