The CIEDE2000 color-difference formula: Implementation notes, supplementary test data, and mathematical observations

TLDR
This article indicates several potential implementation errors that are not uncovered in tests performed using the original sample data published with the recently developed CIEDE2000 color-difference formula.
Abstract
This article and the associated data and programs provided with it are intended to assist color engineers and scientists in correctly implementing the recently developed CIEDE2000 color-difference formula. We indicate several potential implementation errors that are not uncovered in tests performed using the original sample data published with the standard. A supplemental set of data is provided for comprehensive testing of implementations. The test data, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and MATLAB scripts for evaluating the CIEDE2000 color difference are made available at the first author's website. Finally, we also point out small mathematical discontinuities in the formula. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fast and robust Earth Mover's Distances

TL;DR: A new algorithm is presented for a robust family of Earth Mover's Distances - EMDs with thresholded ground distances so that the number of edges is reduced by an order of magnitude, which makes it possible to compute the EMD on large histograms and databases.

Color Balance and Fusion for Underwater Image Enhancement

TL;DR: This work introduces an effective technique to enhance the images captured underwater and degraded due to the medium scattering and absorption by building on the blending of two images that are directly derived from a color-compensated and white-balanced version of the original degraded image.

O-HAZE: A Dehazing Benchmark with Real Hazy and Haze-Free Outdoor Images

TL;DR: The O-HAZE dataset as mentioned in this paper contains 45 different outdoor scenes depicting the same visual content recorded in haze-free and hazy conditions, under the same illumination parameters, using traditional image quality metrics such as PSNR, SSIM and CIEDE2000.

Color difference thresholds in dental ceramics.

TL;DR: The TSK Fuzzy Approximation has been proved to be a reliable alternative approach for the color threshold calculation procedure and provided a better fit than CIELAB formula in the evaluation of color difference thresholds of dental ceramics.

The development of the CIE 2000 colour‐difference formula: CIEDE2000

TL;DR: In this paper, a colour-difference equation based on CIELAB is developed, which includes not only lightness, chroma, and hue weighting functions, but also an interactive term between chroma and hue differences.

Figures of merit for color scanners

TL;DR: An extension of the most promising measure, based on linearized CIELAB space, is proposed to obtain a new figure of merit that has a high degree of perceptual relevance and also accounts for the varying noise performance of different filters.

Comparison of colorimetric and spectrophotometric algorithms for computer match prediction

TL;DR: In this paper, two color-formulation strategies, tristimulus colorimetric and least-squares curve fitting, are discussed: the trISTIMULUS matching strategy (ΔED65)2 + ( ΔEA)2+ ( ΔEWWF)2 → min, and the least squares curve fitting strategy ( Σjw2j[ΔR(λj)]2→ min).
