The genome of Uukuniemi virus consists of three unique RNA segments

TLDR
The presence of a 5' terminal pppAp structure in each RNA segment confirms indications from electron microscopy that the apparently circular RNA segments are not covalently closed, and supports the concept that Uukuniemi virus is a negative strand virus.

Molecular biology of the bunyaviridae

TL;DR: Hantaan and related viruses, the causative agents of haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, are now recognized as belonging to the Bunyaviridae and cause a severe haem orrhagic disease with significant mortality throughout Asia, especially in China.

The origins of defective interfering particles of the negative-strand RNA viruses

TL;DR: The present understanding of negative-strand RNA virus replication is summarized and the replicative event leading to the generation of defective interfering (DI) particles is examined.

Ultrastructural characteristics of Sin Nombre virus, causative agent of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.

TL;DR: The morphologic features of the causative agent, Sin Nombre virus (SNV), are studied by thin section electron microscopy and immunoelectron microscopy of infected Vero E6 cells and viral antigens were localized over virions, inclusions, and tubular projections associated with virion morphogenesis.

Rubella virus 40S genome RNA specifies a 24S subgenomic mRNA that codes for a precursor to structural proteins.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the 24S RNA species represents a subgenomic mRNA coding for a precursor to the structural proteins of rubella virus, which appears to be similar to that of the alphaviruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uukuniemi virus maturation: accumulation of virus particles and viral antigens in the Golgi complex.

TL;DR: The results indicate that Uukuniemi virus and its structural proteins accumulate in the Golgi complex, supporting the idea that this compartment rather than the plasma membrane is the site of virus maturation.
